How to use this calculator

What is EMI?

EMI (Equated Monthly Installment) is the fixed amount you pay every month to repay a loan. Each EMI includes part of the principal and part of the interest.

How the EMI formula works

In the formula, P is the loan amount, r is the monthly interest rate (annual rate divided by 12), and n is the total number of monthly payments. A higher interest rate or longer tenure increases total interest paid.

Formula

EMI = P × r × (1 + r)^n / ((1 + r)^n − 1)

Examples

  • Loan: ₹10,00,000 | Rate: 8.5% | Tenure: 20 years → EMI ≈ ₹8,678
  • Loan: ₹5,00,000 | Rate: 10% | Tenure: 5 years → EMI ≈ ₹10,624
